Rangers will be desperate to keep Alfredo Morelos in the Scottish Premiership but Bundesliga suitors Frankfurt now have a lot of money to spend.
It is not often a West Ham United signing strikes fear into the heart of fans north of the border.
But with just a month remaining in the transfer window, Rangers’ hopes of keeping star striker and top scorer Alfredo Morelos at Ibrox might just have become a little more difficult.
According to the Daily Record, Eintracht Frankfurt are keen to sign the firebrand Colombia international before August’s deadline. And, thanks to West Ham, the Bundesliga outfit will soon have another £40million-plus to spend.
As reported by the Mail, Frankfurt’s man mountain centre-forward Sebastien Haller, a striker with the touch of Dimitar Berbatov and the leap of Duncan Ferguson, is on the verge of joining West Ham for a club-record £42.5 million.
This comes just over a month after Frankfurt also sold Luka Jovic to Real Madrid, the prolific Serb heading to the Bernabau for £62 million, as reported by the Guardian.
So far this summer, Frankfurt have only spent £4 million on bringing new strikers to the Commerzbank Arena. And with the departures of Haller and Jovic leaving a huge gap in a forward line which was one of the most exciting in Europe last season, Frankfurt now have a huge transfer warchest at their disposal.
Could they be about to make Rangers an offer they can’t refuse? Sky claims that the Gers want around £20 million for Morelos but, after bringing in over £100 million for Jovic and Haller, Frankfurt aren’t short of funds.
