"I think he has an incredible left foot and he puts incredible balls into the box and his delivery is fantastic,” Lambert explained.
“Technically he's a gifted footballer and his set plays are excellent. His delivery from wide areas, whether it's left back or left wing is fabulous so he'll be an asset to us that's for sure."
Garbutt joined Ipswich from Everton on a season-long loan deal.
The 26-year-old came through the Everton youth ranks and has often been cited as a potential long-term replacement for Toffees left-back Leighton Baines.
Garbutt, however, has struggled to break through at Everton. He has made a total of five Premier League appearances, with his last outing in the top-flight coming in the 2014-15 campaign.
Capable of playing at left-back or left wing, Garbutt has spent the past few seasons out on loan with the likes of Fulham, Wigan Athletic and League One club Oxford United.
Ipswich will be determined to make an immediate return to the Championship this season following their relegation into League One.
The Tractor Boys will see Garbutt as an ideal versatile addition. With his contract expiring at Goodison Park next summer, a decent campaign at Portman Road could see his move to Ipswich become permanent.
