Leicester City have reportedly had a bid rejected for Sampdoria’s Dennis Praet but Rodgers shouldn’t be too disappointed.

The report reveals that the Blucerchiati will only consider a fee of £22.4 million for the 25-year-old but that isn’t the only problem that the Foxes will face. Praet is uninterested in a move to Leicester this summer as hopes for his next destination to be a Champions League side.
Leicester finished ninth in the Premier League last season which excludes them from European qualification. Wolverhampton Wanderers snapped up the last available Europa League spot after finishing in seventh place and this could seriously dent the Foxes’ chances of signing players like Praet.
La Liga side Valencia are also interested in Praet and a move there would suit his style of play and ambitions. Leicester, who have already added Youri Tielemans to their ranks on a permanent deal, will find it incredibly difficult to convince the Belgian to make the switch this summer.

However, with a very solid midfield trio of James Maddison, Wilfred Ndidi and Tielemans, Leicester shouldn’t be too bothered about missing out on Praet this summer and Brendan Rodgers should quickly look elsewhere if the Foxes fail to convince the Belgian to join them this summer.
Nampalys Mendy, Hamzy Choudhury and Daniel Amartey are all capable of providing decent cover to Rodgers’ current crop of central midfielders and young Harvey Barnes will slot in comfortably in the number 10 role. Missing out on Praet should not be considered as a blow considering Leicester’s plethora of options in the centre of the midfield and Rodgers should be confident with what he has at his disposal.
