Sam Gallagher has joined Blackburn Rovers from Southampton in the summer transfer window.
Sam Gallagher has taken to Twitter to send a message to Southampton following his move to Blackburn Rovers.
As announced on Blackburn’s official website, Rovers have signed Gallagher from Premier League outfit Southampton on a permanent contract.
The 23-year-old striker had a loan spell at Ewood Park from the Saints during the 2016-17 campaign.
According to LancsLive, Rovers paid Saints a transfer fee of £5 million in order to secure the services of the striker in the summer transfer window.
The former England Under-20 international has taken to Twitter and Instagram to send an emotional message to Southampton, and he is also looking forward to playing for Blackburn Rovers.
7 years at @southamptonfc Full of amazing memories with great people. I would like to thank everyone at the club, all the fans, the players & the staff for helping me throughout my journey, and for all the good… https://t.co/ptEHLCjjkX— Sam Gallagher (@SamGallagher40) July 13, 2019
Gallagher had been on the books of Southampton since 2012, but the youngster had struggled to establish himself in the Saints’ first team.
The 23-year-old had loan spells at Milton Keynes Dons, Blackburn and Birmingham City since 2015, and it made sense for the striker to leave the St. Mary’s Stadium on a permanent contract.
