Leeds United could be provided with that extra bite in the middle of the park if they sign Brentford midfielder Romaine Sawyers this summer.

The Daily Record have claimed that Leeds are a number of clubs keen on 27-year-old Sawyers, who captained the Bees in 30 matches last season, and is being touted at £2.5 million.

There's no doubt that Kalvin Phillips was Leeds' star man last season, with the academy product producing brilliant performances, week in, week out for Marcelo Bielsa's side.

Leeds should do everything in their power to sign Sawyers because he would truly make their midfield one of, if not the best in the division, if it's not already. Added with that, his fee would make his signing a win-win situation.

The Birmingham-born player is one of the most underrated players in the Championship and would provide Bielsa with a number of missing ingredients - power and that unknown factor from the middle of the park.

Sawyers has the capabilities of producing something special at any given moment, and if he can produce the goods for Leeds then it'll bode well for Bielsa in his promotion push.

This Leeds midfield is flourishing, Phillips is perhaps the best player in his position in the division and someone like Mateusz Klich and Tyler Roberts provide that attacking threat from middle of the park.

Sawyers, in those tough moments, can produce something special. Whether it's in a defensive duel or its in an attacking duel, he is a player Leeds simply have to sign this summer, especially the bargain price he is seemingly going for.
