Celtic manager Neil Lennon has revealed to The Scottish Sun the chat he has had with Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers over signing a right-back in the summer transfer window.

The Hoops are on the hunt for a right-back in the summer transfer window, with Mikael Lustig, Cristian Gamboa and Jeremy Toljan all having left earlier this summer.

Lennon has suggested that he is looking to sign two new right-backs in the summer transfer window.

The Celtic boss has also revealed that Leicester manager Rodgers was trying to find a right-back as well to challenge Lustig when he was in charge of the Glasgow giants.

Lennon told The Scottish Sun: "It is obvious we need a right-back. We are looking to try and get one in maybe and if we can negotiate the second leg on Wednesday we will try and get one or two players in for the second round.

“We still need to add a bit of quality and depth. We had a four-hour recruitment meeting on Wednesday on one or two positions. It is a lengthy process.

“I spoke to Brendan about it and they were looking for a right-back a couple of years ago to come in and challenge Mika and it was difficult to find the right one."

Brendan Rodgers, manager of Celtic, applauds the fans before the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership match between Celtic and St Mirren at Celtic Park on January 23, 2019 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Scouting Europe

Celtic do need to recruit a right-back as soon as possible, as Anthony Ralston is the only recognised player in that position at the Glasgow giants at the moment.

The Hoops need to scout mainland Europe and England to find a suitable right-back and they need to be quick about it, with the Champions League qualifiers already underway.
