Ibrox Stadium of Rangers
According to The Daily Record, Rangers have paid Bologna £3.5 million in transfer fees in order to secure the services of the 26-year-old Sweden international defender.
The former Malmo FF and Verona defender is delighted at making the switch to Rangers, and he seems to rate the Ibrox faithful highly.
Helander told Rangers’ official website: “I am delighted to be joining Rangers, it’s a special club with tremendous fans and a unique history.
“The opportunity to work with a manager like Steven Gerrard was an easy decision to make.”
Good signing for Rangers?
Helander has been playing in the Italian top flight for the past four seasons, and his success in Serie A underlines his quality.
The 26-year-old is just coming into his peak, and his 6ft 4in stature will help Rangers battle aerial threat from opposition attackers.
The signing of Helander means that Rangers manager Gerrard now has some competition at the back, with Connor Goldson, Nikola Katic and George Edmundson the other main central defenders.
