BBC motoring show Top Gear has returned with a bang but the new series has been very short-lived
It's a shame that the series has to end so soon as the new-look show with Paddy McGuinness and Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff joining as hosts has really brought a new lease of life to the ageing motoring show, but more on that later.
With the series drawing to a seemingly premature end, fans of the show will be eager to know when the new terrific trio will be back on our screens and there's some good news for long-time Top Gear aficionados.
What happens in episode 5?
The final episode of Top Gear's 27th series will see the trio of hosts embark on an Icelandic adventure as they explore the treacherous world of Formula Off Road, which sees highly modified buggies pelt themselves up near-vertical cliff-faces.
Meanwhile, we're set to get a review of the stunning new Toyota Supra, most likely at the hands of experience car journalist Chris Harris although it could be a good opportunity to give Paddy or Freddie some practice at it if they're going to become long-time presenters of the show.
And finally, Chris Harris is set to get his hands on Mario Andretti's Lotus 79, a revolutionary car in the history of Formula 1.
The episode is due for broadcast on Sunday, July 14th at 8pm and looks like one you won't want to miss.
Impressions about the new series
The decision to replace Matt LeBlanc as the host of Top Gear with Paddy McGuinness and Freddie Flintoff certainly raised eyebrows when it was first announced in late 2018.
However, no one could have expected the bonafide success the new hosts have been in revitalising the series after a number of lacklustre years in the post-Clarkson era.
Alongside Chris Harris, the new pair of presenters have injected some much-needed chemistry back into the show, even if you might need subtitles to understand what they're saying half the time thanks to their thick northern accents.
When will Top Gear return?

As you can see in the tweet above, it has already been announced that McGuinness, Flintoff and Harris will return for a Top Gear Christmas special.
It's hugely exciting news for long-standing fans of the series as BBC Two boss Patrick Holland said in a statement: "Top Gear has come back with a real bang and we couldn’t be happier with how the audience is responding.
"I am delighted that this Christmas we’ll have a special adventure which promises to be epic and gruelling in true Top Gear style."
It's certainly sounding promising. Hopefully, with a bit more time on the show, this new trio can welcome in a new era of motoring madness for us all to enjoy.
The finale of series 27 is set to air at 8pm on Sunday, July 14th and we can't wait to see what they have in store.
