The City Ground side made use of the Toffees midfielder’s services in 2017-18 but this term he will play for the Rams.

A number of Nottingham Forest fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the news that Everton midfielder and former Reds loanee Kieran Dowell is to spend the 2019-20 season on loan at Derby County.

The Rams confirmed the deal on Thursday night, the Toffees academy graduate linking up with Forest’s rivals for a third stint in the second tier following his spell at the City Ground as well as last season’s second-placed side Sheffield United.

During the 2017-18 campaign, Dowell played 43 games in the Garibaldi red, scoring 10 goals and registering five assists (Transfermarkt), while last term, he made 16 appearances for the Blades, helping them win promotion to the Premier League.

Here is what some Forest fans wrote on the social media platform about their one-time loanee making the switch across the A52:

Dowell has come through the ranks at Everton but to this day he has made just five appearances for the senior side, according to Transfermarkt.

He could line up against his former loan side in four months’ time, the first East Midlands derby of the season taking place at the City Ground on 9 November, while the reverse fixture takes place at Pride Park on 4 April next year,
