The Bluebirds will be playing Championship football again next season after they failed to stave off the threat of relegation in their one and only campaign back in the big time. And it’s clear what the main problem was.
The fact that their top scorers, Bobby Reid and on-loan midfielder Victor Camarasa, found the net just five times highlights where things went wrong for Neil Warnock’s side.
So, on paper at least, Murray looks like an inspired transfer target, even if he is 35 years of age these days. In the autumn years of his career, the veteran striker remains as reliable as ever. His 13 Premier League goals almost single-handedly kept Brighton in the division last season.
Murray has a fearsome record in the Championship too. He won the Golden Boot in six years ago after netting 30 times for Crystal Palace and it was his 23 goals that helped Brighton secure second place behind Newcastle United in 2017 too.
With just a year left on his contract, Brighton will know that a good offer from Cardiff might just be too good to turn down.
