Aston Villa fans do not appear keen on the links with Bjorn Engels, which emerged yesterday.

The Daily Mail claim that Villa want Engels, as Dean Smith looks to sign another defender.

Villa have already added Kortney Hause, Ezri Konsa and Tyrone Mings this summer, while James Chester is already at the club.

Engels is now said to be on Villa’s radar, but some claret and blues fans think that they are starting to sign too many centre-backs now.

If Engels does sign for Villa then Smith will surely have his complete set of centre-backs in place for the season ahead.

Villa are likely to play a system which only includes two central defenders next term, which means competition for places will be fierce.

Engels currently plays for Stade Reims in France, and he impressed in Ligue 1 last season.
