Everton reportedly want to sign the Chelsea defender.
According to a report from the Telegraph, Everton are to remain patient in their pursuit of Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma, and they fully accept that Frank Lampard will want time to assess his squad before making any decisions on potential exits.
The Frenchman spent last season on loan at Goodison Park, and he was a real hit with Toffees fans, racking up 36 appearances in all competitions for Marco Silva’s side in the process.
BBC Sport claimed last month that Everton were inching closer to signing Zouma permanently from Chelsea for around £30 million, but as things stand, no progress has been made.
Whilst Silva seems to be keen on bolstering his attacking options, the signing of Zouma must be viewed as a priority.
The 24-year-old two-time Premier League winner is a proper defender. And if the Toffees manage to sign him for just £30 million it would have to be classed as a real coup.
And as strange as it may seem, Everton chiefs will be hoping that Zouma struggles during pre-season for Chelsea, in the hope that Lampard will be willing to let him go.
With just under a month to go until the transfer window slams shut, however, Everton won’t be able to wait around forever.
Patience will be a must, but at the same time they must make their intent clear to Chelsea, if they really want to bring Zouma to Goodison Park this summer.
