According to L'Equipe, Aston Villa are in advanced talks to sign Stade Reims defender Bjorn Engels, and a deal could be done quickly.
Engels, 24, came up through the Club Brugge ranks in his native Belgium, scoring 12 goals in 97 games before moving on to Olympiakos in 2017.
Last season, Engels went on loan to Reims, and his impressive performances meant that the Ligue 1 side made his move permanent this summer thanks to clause in the loan.
Reims may now flip the giant 6ft 4in defender for a profit, with talks believed to be at an advanced stage for him to move on to Villa in a quickfire move.
Villa have signed one centre back already today by snapping up Ezri Konsa from Brentford, whilst Tyrone Mings made his move to Villa Park permanent earlier this week.
Engels would be a third centre back addition in a matter of days if Villa get a deal done, and a fourth of the summer having tied up a permanent deal for Kortney Hause too.
Engels is big, strong and good in the air, whilst he also has an impressive passing range for a centre back of his size, which may be why Dean Smith and co are interested.
A move for Engels would surely rule out Axel Tuanzebe returning to Villa Park, especially with Konsa signed too, but would set Villa up defensively for years to come.
