Mercifully, the Maxi Gomez transfer saga appears to be coming to an end.

According to Sky Sports, West Ham United haven't given up hope of hijacking Valencia's deal for Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez – but those hopes may be over now.
The Hammers are in the market for a new centre forward having sold Lucas Perez and Marko Arnautovic as well as releasing Andy Carroll, and Gomez has been a top target.
Gomez, 22, has hit 30 goals in 73 games for Celta since arriving from Defensor Sporting in 2017, and West Ham have been fighting for much of the summer to get a deal done.
However, West Ham have been unable to convince Celta into a deal, and a move to Valencia has been the most likely switch so far this week.
Superdeporte in Valencia reported yesterday that Valencia have agreed a deal worth a total of €16million (£14.4million) plus ex-Celta striker Santi Mina, as well as defender Jorge Saenz, but he'll only go on a two-year loan.
Incredibly, that report noted that Valencia had been unable to contact Gomez yesterday to finalise a move, because he was in the mountains of Uruguay fishing with his friends.

That seemed to give West Ham new hope of hijacking the move, but they may now be gutted to see the video above, which shows Gomez arriving at Valencia airport to finalise his move to the La Liga side.
Finally, and thankfully, this transfer saga appears to be coming to an end. Gomez looks set for Valencia, and West Ham can surely end those hopes of getting a deal done, and move on to other targets who they have more chance of signing.
