A recent mishap by Xbox Germany has caused Xbox One gamers to worry that the Final Fantasy VII Remake will truly be a PS4 exclusive.
Although I'm no longer in love with Square Enix's most iconic franchise due to having replaced it with superior JRPGs such as Dragon Quest and Persona, it'd be foolish of me to reject the notion that the Final Fantasy 7 Remake is anticipated as much as Cyberpunk 2077 and The Last Of Us Part 2. The overwhelming hype and confusing marketing surrounding the remake (in which Tifa has a smaller bosom) has understandably resulted in fears that it might be another excellent PlayStation 4 exclusive that Xbox One gamers miss out on. And this could very well be a nightmare come true judging by recent events.
Is Final Fantasy VII Remake a PS4 exclusive? Bad news for Xbox One!
To get the obvious out of the way first, it's highly unlikely that Square Enix's Final Fantasy VII Remake will be a PS4 exclusive as it will surely be on the PlayStation 5, too.
Square Enix president Yosuke Matsuda recently said in an interview that he believes the remake is being developed for both current and next-generation hardware.
Final Fantasy VII Remake being sold on the PlayStation 5 wouldn't be anything shocking as part 1 alone is coming out in March, which is only a little while before the next-generation of consoles are believed to launch in Holiday 2020.
However, will the Final Fantasy VII Remake be on Xbox One and Project Scarlett?
The Xbox Germany Facebook page recently posted a video that said the Final Fantasy VII Remake would launch on Xbox One on March 3 alongside the PS4.
Unfortunately, the Xbox community's buzz was swiftly killed by Xbox Germany's communications and social lead Maxi Graff confirming that the promo was a human error.
Graff has profoundly apologised for the mishap over on Twitter, and all related marketing materials have been snapped out of existence.
Hey. We did an internal mistake in the Social Team. We took the video off immediately. Sorry, no announcement on our side. Big apologies for this.— Maxi Gräff (@GMaxee) July 10, 2019
I am truly sorry if I hurt anybodies feelings. But be sure that this was not intended and just an honest mistake from a gaming loving human. Again: we will check our process on this to make sure this doesn´t happen again.— Maxi Gräff (@GMaxee) July 10, 2019
It actually happened yes. In that video were multiple FF games and the remake happened to be in there by mistake from the editorial team where we didn´t check the exclusitivity on the specific one. We make sure this doesn´t happen again.— Maxi Gräff (@GMaxee) July 10, 2019
And, as if that wasn't bad enough, Square Enix has also reportedly responded to MSPowerUser saying they currently don't have any plans to release the Final Fantasy VII Remake on any platforms other than the PS4.
