Everton playmaker Kieran Dowell could be making another loan move to the Championship this summer, with Derby County one of the clubs reportedly keen on his services.
Kieran Dowell simply hasn’t been able to make his mark at Everton as he has faced a number of loan spells early on his career.
From playing for Sheffield United to playing in the Midlands for Nottingham Forest. Despite his struggles to showcase his talent in England’s top-tier, the playmaker has been producing the goods in the Championship.
But the unfancied Everton star could potentially be making a controversial move if recent transfer reports are true.
The Daily Mail have claimed that Derby County have swopped in for the signature of Dowell, with other interested parties being Huddersfield Town and Wigan.
Given the fact that Dowell made 43 appearances for Forest during the 2017-18 season, a move to their bitter rivals and to Pride Park surely wouldn’t sit down well with their supporters.
The 21-year-old would add substance, creativity and magic to whichever forward line he joins next season – but if he moves to Derby then expect some extra spice being added to the East Midlands derby.
Nonetheless, Dowell should be given credit for continually trying to push himself and prove his worth outside of his parent club.
Where his future lies for him at Everton remains to be seen, but he is building a reputation for himself outside of Goodison Park, and if it doesn’t work out then he’ll have plenty of suitors.
Given his age, Dowell has plenty of time to prove himself, but given the compeititon, at Everton, it would be hard for him to break into the senior team.
Even though it might stir a few people up, moving to Derby County would be a wise move because he’d be signing for a team has reached back-to-back play-offs, and will have the ambition of finishing in the top-six again ahead of the new season.
