Graham Potter’s Brighton have joined Norwich in the race for French sensation Alexis Claude-Maurice but the player isn’t too keen on the project.

According to a report from French outlet Soccer Link, Brighton and Norwich are keen on signing Lorient’s 21-year-old attacker Alexis Claude Maurice.

Soccer Link reported back in May that Arsenal had a £9 million bid rejected for the young Frenchman by Lorient and the Gunners’ interest in Claude-Maurice has since faded. However, the versatile attacker now has another opportunity to make his way into the Premier League with Brighton or Norwich but the youngster seemingly has other ideas.

Graham Potter has already made a huge statement with the big-money signing of Leandro Trossard from Belgian side Genk this summer and Claude-Maurice would be a brilliant addition to their attacking lineup. However, the Seagulls might have to look elsewhere as the report reveals that the Frenchman isn’t interested in their project.

Daniel Farke’s Norwich City are also in the hunt for the former French under-20 international who had a breakthrough campaign last term where he managed a hugely impressive return of 14 goals and four assists in 35 Ligue 2 games.

A versatile forward capable of playing anywhere across the front three as well as in attacking midfield, Claude-Maurice would have been a wonderful signing to either of the interested English clubs but with his interests aligned elsewhere, a Ligue 1 side could end up being his next destination.

The report states that Ligue 1 side Nice, who are managed by Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira, are also interested in Claude-Maurice. The French outfit finished seventh in the league last season and with them aiming for a spot in one of the European competitions, the 21-year-old could see them as a better fit to continue his progression.
