TalkSport pundit Micky Gray has lauded the 'outstanding talent' that is Harry Winks after he put pen-to-paper on a new Tottenham Hotspur deal.

Tottenham secured the futures of two of their star players on Monday when midfielder Winks and left-back Ben Davies penned new five-year contracts, as reported by BBC Sport.

Winks, 23, has come through the ranks at Spurs and has been one of the success stories of Mauricio Pochettino's reign in North London.

Speaking to Jim White on TalkSport (09/06/19 at 10:15 am), former Sunderland man Gray shared his thoughts on those deals, as he gave a special mention to Winks.

"They are doing it right at Spurs," Gray told TalkSport. "When you see the young and upcoming talent that are coming through, and Harry Winks is certainly one of them. He's an England international now. Quality player. Someone that is well respected early in his career and he's going to be there for a long, long time. Outstanding talent

"He wants potential. He knows that there's potential at Tottenham to go along and win trophies and he wants to be a part of it."

A big season awaits Winks because he is now in the territory of becoming that experienced player and a player where good things will be expected of him.

The current transfer window should help the Spurs youth product because a signing such as Tanguy Ndombele should be valuable to him on and off the pitch.

Both from playing alongside the midfield powerhouse to even competing with him for a midfield starting birth in Mauricio Pochettino's starting XI.

Tanguy Ndombele of Tottenham Hotspur signs a contract at Enfield Training Centre on July 02, 2019 in Enfield, England.
