Ian Wright has heralded the return of Edu to Arsenal.
The Gunners announced on Tuesday that their former Brazilian midfielder was returning to North London in the role of Technical Director.
This had been a vacant role at Arsenal since Sven Mislintat walked away from the Emirates earlier in the year.
Edu's appointment could and most definitely should bring about a structure of the club's transfer activity, with recruitment falling under his list of responsibilities, in addition to overseeing the work of first-team coaches.
And Arsenal icon Wright is delighted to see the 41-year-old return to North London.
Welcome home my friend ♥️ Great appointment moving the club in the right direction. Someone that understands what it takes and understands the club + our fans. https://t.co/im3873Sq5t— Ian Wright (@IanWright0) July 9, 2019
Edu won two Premier League titles with Arsenal - including as part of the Invincible squad of 2004 - and two FA Cup crowns.
Arsene Wenger signed him from Corinthians in 2001 and Edu, who earned 15 caps for Brazil, would spend four years playing under the legendary Frenchman.
Prior to re-joining Arsenal, he was the Coordinator of Brazil's national team and played a role in their Copa America success this past weekend.
