Aston Villa's Love Island-style tribute to the Tyrone Mings signing went down well with many fans - but not McGinn.

The news that Aston Villa have permanently signed Tyrone Mings may have been universally lauded by everyone connected with the club but John McGinn did not seem particularly impressed with the club's Love Island themed video clip announcing the Bournemouth man's arrival.

Given the impact he made since joining the Villa earlier this year on an initial loan deal, shoring up the defence en route to a winning streak which cemented a top-six place and subsequently helping the club win the playoffs, fans were hoping that player and club would couple up permanently.

Prior to this week's announcement, the club had been doing bits in the transfer market, with Jota, Anwar El Ghazi, Wesley, Kortney Hause and Matt Targett having all become permanent fixtures in the Villa, but it looked as though securing Mings's signature would require a little more grafting.

Luckily, Villa would not be getting pied and, on Monday, the club announced the 26-year-old's signing, and they certainly relished the occasion as they posted numerous tweets in celebration, including this work of art:

Alas, McGinn had just one word for the admin and the media team:

A shame that Villa's social team has been so cruelly mugged off by the midfield maestro but hey, it is what it is. Anyway, one thing everyone can agree on is that, with Mings now permanently a member of the team, it certainly bodes well for the upcoming season.
