Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson could reportedly be heading for the Elland Road exit door this summer.

There is always drama at Leeds United, even when things are seemingly looking positive or on the up, a bit of chaos, a bit of the unexpected or even expected, whichever way you see it, is always around the corner.

Well, here is another in the form of Leeds United’s in-your-face centre-back Pontus Jansson, who could be heading for the Elland Road exit door this summer if recent reports are true.

West London Sport have claimed that Brentford are close to securing the services of Jansson, who is close to making the switch from Yorkshire to the free-flowing London club.

For most parts, Jansson has been a hit, and a popular figure at the club. Therefore, his departure will hit the club hard and they would need a very good replacement.

Here are three players that could replace the Sweeden international if he makes the switch to Brentford:

Cameron Carter-Vickers – A centre-back who simply hasn’t been able to cut it at Tottenham, as he is seemingly heading for the exit door this summer. The Daily Mail claims that Spurs are willing to sell the 21-year-old, but could he fit into Marcelo Bielsa’s system? Last season, he was on-loan at Swansea City, who are a free-flowing possession-based side.

He has proven he can play in an attack-minded team and he has the presence and physicality to be a shield at the back. But is he the type of replacement Leeds fans would be looking for?

Kyle Bartley – Could Jansson’s former defensive partner at Elland Road ironically replace him? Since his departure from Leeds, Bartley hasn’t been able to produce that form under Garry Monk either at Swansea or West Brom. The Leeds faithful have already see what he is capable of, and he has the experience to deal with the pressures of the club. But would Leeds fans want him back?

Harlee Dean – As Jansson seemingly heads to Brentford, could the man the left Griffin Park for Birmingham City two years ago replace him at Elland Road? Centre-back Dean has all the qualities for a modern-day centre-back. From having the ability to bring the ball out to putting the ball into row Z, if need be.

Added with that, pound for pound he could the best purchase out of the three players suggested. Not forgetting that his current club, Birmingham City, are in a mess, especially from a financial standpoint, and the Yorkshire club could take advantage of that by snatching one of their best players.
