Ben Davies is reportedly close to putting pen to paper on a new contract at Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, Ben Davies is close to agreeing a new five-year deal at Tottenham with Spurs willing to listen to offers for Danny Rose this summer.
Rose and Davies have enjoyed a fantastic battle for the left-back spot in Mauricio Pochettino’s side over the last couple of seasons. And it was the former who seemed to end the campaign in better form, with many Tottenham fans feeling that Rose was very much back towards his best.
But it appears that the Welshman may be about to go into the new season as Pochettino’s first-choice. The Daily Mail reports that Rose is one of the names on a list of players that are available this summer with Daniel Levy looking to raise additional funds following the stadium move and signing of Tanguy Ndombele.
And the Mail adds that Davies is set to commit his future to Tottenham by putting pen to paper on a new long-term deal with the Champions League finalists.
It may disappoint a number of Spurs fans that Rose could be on the move while Davies is set to extend his terms. Rose’s performances towards the end of last season were often lauded by the supporters, and Davies would have big shoes to fill.
But reports of a new long-term contract certainly suggest that the 26-year-old has the manager’s backing to step up if his rival does move on during the coming weeks.
