There might be an element of awkwardness at Everton this summer if two of the club's transfer targets are reunited.
According to The Daily Mail, the Toffees want to sign former Chelsea hitman Diego Costa, a team-mate of Kurt Zouma - who impressed at Goodison on loan from the Londoners last season - once upon a time.
And it might be a tad awkward if the duo reunite at Finch Farm, given that Zouma once accidentally called the Atletico Madrid marksman a cheat.
Speaking in September 2015 after a fiery game with Arsenal, in which Costa's goading of Gabriel Paulista resulted in the defender being sent off, Zouma was quoted as saying by The Guardian: "Everyone knows Diego and this guy likes to cheat a lot and put the opponents out of his game, and that happened in the game."
The big Chelsea defender inevitably made headlines for using the C-word, but the 24-year-old, born in Lyon, later clarified his remarks on Twitter and blamed his poor English for the mishap.
He wrote: "Sorry for any confusion. English is not my first language and I did not mean to accuse anyone of cheating. Simply to say Diego is a player who puts pressure on his opponents and who I have huge respect for.”
Costa might not be a cheat, but he is certainly a master of the dark arts and English football seems a quieter place without his behaviour.
Character aside, he is a fantastic striker and goalscorer and one who could benefit Everton in a big way.
