Another Rangers player's exit may be put on hold due to a managerial change.
Glenn Middleton was expected to join Doncaster Rovers on loan last month, but remained at Rangers after Grant McCann left to take the reins at another Yorkshire side, Hull.
But they, too, are now looking for a manager after Terry McPhillips' surprise decision to quit on Friday.
According to the Sun, Blackpool - who loaned Joe Dodoo from Rangers last season - could replace McPhillips with their former boss, Simon Grayson, as early as this weekend.
And it remains to be seen whether Grayson, or any other potential appointment, would still have eyes for Hardie.
The Rangers academy product scored seven goals in 22 Scottish Premiership matches while on loan to Livingston last season, but has never experience English football.
