Tottenham Hotspur should seriously consider the stopper as Hugo Lloris’s long-term replacement.

Hugo Lloris has been Tottenham Hotspur’s trusted number one for quite some time now, but the Frenchman has had his disappointing moments over the last two years. The 32-year-old made a few costly errors last season, including one against fellow title contenders Liverpool for which he was heavily criticised by fans and pundits alike.

Former Tottenham star Jermaine Jenas analysed the incident on BBC and claimed that Lloris has ‘let Spurs down too many times.’

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino will have to address this issue in the summer and bring in someone who would give the Frenchman some serious competition for a first-team spot.

Juventus’s Italian shot-stopper Mattia Perin would be a phenomenal addition to Tottenham’s squad and, as things stand, he might be available on the market this summer.

Juventus re-signed their club legend Gianluigi Buffon on a one-year contract which is terrible news for Perin. The 26-year-old is already below Wojciech Szczesny in the pecking order in Turin, and the arrival of Juve’s greatest ever goalkeeper will only push Perin further down.

Perin only joined The Old Lady last summer but managed just nine games in all competitions. Szczesny has rightfully claimed the number one role at the club but a ‘keeper of the ability of Perin deserves a regular starting role and Tottenham should lure him to North London with that opportunity.

Standing at 6 feet 2 inches tall, Perin possesses incredible reactions and is not afraid to put his body on the line. The Italian is fairly quick off his line, which is a necessity in the modern game and, at 26, he is at the perfect stage of his career to take the big step of moving to the Premier League.

As good as Lloris has been for Spurs, Pochettino will have to be ruthless in his decisions if he wants to have any chance of getting his hands on silverware next season.

The signing of a massive name like Perin would be a huge statement for Tottenham and it is one they should make this summer.
