Hull City have reportedly opened talks with Leeds United over a move for Mallik Wilks.
A number of Leeds and Hull fans have taken to Twitter to react to reports from Hull Live which claimed that the two Championship clubs have held talks over a potential deal for Mallik Wilks.
Wilks appeared to head into the summer with a realistic chance of forcing his way into Marcelo Bielsa’s plans at Elland Road after an outstanding loan spell with Doncaster last term.
He scored 14 goals and contributed eight assists for Donny in the league, and Grant McCann is reportedly now hoping to sign him once again following his switch to the KCOM Stadium.
Hull Live reports that the two clubs have held talks with Leeds open to selling the youngster permanently with the Whites accepting that he is unlikely to get a lot of game-time for Bielsa’s side this term.
The news has not gone down at all well amongst the Whites fans on social media. It is clear that plenty believe that Wilks has the talent to make the grade at Elland Road, and thus, the club should only be willing to consider another loan move for the forward.
Meanwhile, plenty of Hull fans believe that he would be a fantastic signing given what he achieved while working with McCann last season. It appears that only one set of supporters would be pleased to see the deal go through this summer.
Here is what some of the Leeds fans make of the reports…
Please do not sell him to Hull please— Leeds Melissa (@AlioskiLeeds31) July 3, 2019
We want Bowen as part of the deal!— christian (@xtian1) July 3, 2019
Keep him…— Dan Wilkinson (@DanWilkinson5) July 3, 2019
This is a bad deal. After a brilliant season on loan he deserves a chance. Can anyone honestly say he is a worse player than Harrison, Alioski, Dallas or even Clarke? Not too many players in league 1 with his age profile and goal scoring record will be sold for 1m either.— D.Frost (@dfrost777) July 3, 2019
Swap for Bowen and will throw in a snickers— Col (@colriley79) July 3, 2019
Think it’s a no brainer of a loan til Jan. champ experience and we can then see if he can cut it above League 1.— Ash Ellis (@AshJEllis) July 3, 2019
Unpopular opinion but I’d have rather Wilks had a chance with us and Clarke stayed at Spurs. https://t.co/z9JGxEitMk— Łuke (@Luke_LUFC99) July 3, 2019
@LUFC DO NOT SELL WILKS, I REPEAT, DO NOT SELL WILKS— lewis (@PrimePablo) July 3, 2019
And here is what some of the Hull fans were saying…
Hope we get him. 1.2 million sounds good. Good player.— tigerboy (@Tigerbo91531509) July 4, 2019
You know what I’d be buzzing if we signed Wilks, was amazing at Doncaster last season from what I’ve seen, be a right good signing that for us #hcafc— karl (@hcafckarl) July 4, 2019
I think he’d most probably at least get near double figures in goals, but it depends on his play time, he’s good depth we’ve got a good 11 we just need good depth and that’s what McCann has seen I think— Harvey⚫️ (@BotterillHarve1) July 4, 2019
Looked class me Grandad who’s a Donny fan rated him highly and looked good from highlights I saw— Ben (@hcafcBen) July 4, 2019
