Leeds United are reportedly letting Aapo Halme go.
Leeds United are ready to sanction the departure of Finnish prospect Aapo Halme.
Finnish outlet HS reported that Halme is set to move to Barnsley on a three-year deal.
Halme was used as emergency centre-back cover last season, and acquitted himself well.
Manager Marcelo Bielsa evidently has other plans, and Halme will join Hugo Diaz and Paudie O'Connor in being the third talented centre-back Leeds have let leave Elland Road this summer.
The right and wrongs of those decisions can be debated, and odds are Leeds will regret at least one of those departures.
But their exits can work in somebody's favour, and that player could be Pascal Struijk.
Signed from Ajax in January 2018, Struijk played a key role in Leeds' under-23 success last season.
He was behind Halme in the pecking order and the Finland under-21 international's departure helps Struijk out.
Struijk deserves to be given an opportunity this pre-season to show what he can do.
