Tottenham Hotspur and Wolverhampton Wanderers both reportedly want Monaco’s Ligue 1 wonder-kid Badiashile.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are having second thoughts about signing Monaco defender Benoit Badiashile due to his staggering price-tag, according to the Mirror (3 July, page 51) – and this could be the encouragement Tottenham Hotspur need to bring another of France’s brightest talents to North London.

Spurs shattered their transfer record on Tuesday, paying £63 million to sign Lyon’s coveted midfield powerhouse Tanguy Ndombele (Sky).

And he could be one of two dazzling Ligue 1 youngsters on their way to the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. After all, L’Equipe believe that Spurs are hoping to snap up Monaco’s 18-year-old man mountain of a centre-back Badiashile.

Wolves are keen, too.

And although they have some of the most ambitious and deep-pocketed owners around, The Mirror reports that the Black Country giants are ‘reluctant’ to pay £36 million for a teenager with just two years left on his contract, even if Badiashile has earned rave reviews from Wolves’ scouts.

Tottenham have shown in the past that they are willing to break the bank for the right player, regardless of his age. Davinson Sanchez was just 21 when he arrived for a record-breaking £42 million after all, according to the Guardian.

And though Badiashile has made just 20 Ligue 1 appearances, he seems to have the raw talent to reach the very top of the European game.
