Leicester City would love to bring Youri Tielemans back to the Premier League but the Bundesliga and La Liga champions are hovering.
Leicester City are edging closer to sealing a record-breaking £40 million deal for Youri Tielemens despite bona fide European giants Barcelona and Bayern Munich expressing an interest in the last few days, according to The Mercury.
The Foxes’ pre-season preparations have suddenly stepped up a notch with Brendan Rodgers’ ambitious side on the verge of sealing their second summer signing.
James Justin has already arrived from Luton Town and, according to the BBC, Newcastle United forward Ayoze Perez is also set to wear Leicester blue next season with a £30 million move suddenly near completion.
Perez is unlikely to be Leicester’s most expensive player for long, however, with Tielemans expected to return after last season’s superb loan spell from Monaco.
The Belgian international was a huge hit with his vision and technique, not to mention three goals and four assists in just 13 games.
The Mercury claims that the champions of Spain and Germany, Barca and Bayern, have made contact with Tielemans’ agent but a return to Leicester still looks likely, even if the talks have progressed slower than Rodgers and co would have liked.
Justin will offer cover at both full-back positions while Perez could form a fearsome partnership with Jamie Vardy. Tielemens, however, could be the best piece of business Leicester do this summer and beating Barcelona and Bayern to his signature makes the deal just that little bit more impressive.
