Tottenham Hotspur are all set to secure Tanguy Ndombele – but Everton will be losing out.

According to the Daily Mail, Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has arrived in London to undergo his medical with Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs agreed a fee with Lyon on Sunday night for Ndombele, with L’Equipe reporting that the price involved is a huge €72million (£64million), of which £55million is up front.

The lengthy pursuit of the 22-year-old appears to be coming to an end, with Spurs landing their man in a club-record deal.

Ndombele is believed to be in London right now, ready to undergo his medical, and Lyon aren’t waiting around to land his replacement as they gear up to lose their star midfielder.

Lyon have earmarked Lille ace Thiago Mendes as their preferred replacement, and the Brazilian appears to be edging ever closer to a move.

As seen below, Le Progres have tweeted a photo of Mendes arriving in Lyon for his medical, meaning his move should be confirmed around a similar time to Ndombele’s.

Tottenham are of course the big winners, landing their top target after weeks or pursuing him, and Lyon will at least feel good in the knowledge that they’ve made a huge profit on Ndombele and landed their top target to replace him.

If there’s a big loser in this situation, it may actually be Everton. Le10 Sport claimed just a couple of weeks ago that Everton had made a new move for Mendes, in the hope of bringing him to Goodison Park, having been linked in January too.

It looks like Everton have missed out on Mendes, leaving Marcel Brands and Marco Silva to identify other midfield targets to join Andre Gomes and Idrissa Gueye in Silva’s ranks.
