Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to Matt Targett joining Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.

Villa - who will play in the Premier League next season after clinching promotion from the Championship via the playoffs - have signed the 23-year-old left-back from Southampton.

According to The Express & Star, the Villans have paid the Saints an initial transfer fee of £11.5 million for Targett, who can also operate as a wing-back.

Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to Targett moving to Villa this summer.

No big loss for Southampton

Targett was at Southampton since 2003, and although the 23-year-old made his first-team debut back in 2013, the youngster had failed to make a massive impact at the Saints.

The departure of the former England Under-21 international is not a big loss for Southampton, but he is a very good long-term signing for Villa and will provide first-choice left-back Neil Taylor with the competition that he needs.
