Matt Smith of Leeds United celebrates scoring during their Sky Bet Championship match between Leeds United and Birmingham City at Elland Road Stadium on October 20, 2013 in Leeds, England.

Matt Smith was never a brilliant player at Leeds United.

The towering figure, who stands at 6'6, only had one full season at Elland Road and scored 13 goals in 43 appearances across all competitions which, for a striker, isn't an outstanding return.

He wasn't the best striker that United have ever had, but he certainly wasn't the worst and therefore the Elland Road faithful, classy as they are, appreciated his effort nonetheless.

Smith has been applauded on his return to West Yorkshire as an opposition player and it's fair to say that a lot of their supporters like him - well, they did until yesterday.

But the 30-year-old's latest transfer decision has attracted derision from a section of supporters on Twitter, with Smith leaving QPR to join Millwall.

There isn't much love lost between the Whites and Millwall, and here's how Leeds supporters reacted to the switch on social media:

Marcelo Bielsa's side visit The Den on October 5 this season.

Matt Smith scores his sides first goal during the Skybet Championship match between Queens Park Rangers and Blackburn Rovers at Loftus Road on April 19, 2019 in London, England.
