Championship outfit Leeds United have announced the signing of Ben White from Premier League outfit Brighton and Hove Albion.

Brighton and Hove Albion’s U23 Simon Rusk coach has warned Ben White that he will have to ‘adapt’ to life in the Championship as he prepares for a loan spell at Leeds United, speaking to The Argus.

Leeds got their transfer window up and running on Monday with Marcelo Bielsa’s side announcing two new signings. White has arrived at Elland Road alongside Jack Harrison, who has returned for a second loan spell from Premier League champions Manchester City.

21-year-old White has never made a league appearance for Brighton, though he certainly has the potential to be one of the Championship’s most inspired additions this summer.

Though that is not to say the ball-playing defender does not has a lot to prove, given that previous loan spells have seen him play in the third and fourth tier respectively with Peterborough and Newport County.

And while backing White to succeed at Leeds, Rusk believes that the Poole-born youngster will have to work hard to show that he can thrive at a higher level.

"This is an exciting move for Ben and one that makes sense in his natural development,” he said.

"Ben will have to adapt once again, as he joins a new group of players and experiences an increased standard of quality and athleticism in the Championship.

"I'm delighted for Ben to experience playing at that level in front of bigger crowds, and we'll be keeping a close eye on his progress at Elland Road."

White has shown admirable maturity and adaptability during his short career so far, making the step up to League One with ease after thriving in the bottom tier with Newport.

And with Bielsa still at the helm at Elland Road, don’t bet against White playing Premier League football in 2020 – either with Leeds or Brighton.
