There is still plenty of football going on despite being in the summer, but the London Stadium played host to a completely different sport on Saturday.

West Ham United opened their doors to Major League Baseball on Saturday, as the New York Yankees met the Boston Red Sox for the first ever MLB game in Europe.

It was the Yankees who claimed the victory, winning 17-13 over the Red Sox, in front of a packed London Stadium with an attendance of almost 60,000.

Football wasn't the order of the day West Ham's home, but Liverpool's principal owner John W Henry did attend the game in what will be a familiar setting to him.

Henry owns the Boston Red Sox as well as Liverpool, so whilst he saw his football team win the Champions League at the begging of the month, he ended it with a defeat in baseball.

Henry took to Twitter to post a photo from West Ham's home, simply captioning the photo with the word 'wow' having seen the crammed arena turned into a baseball pitch.

Remarkably though, Henry wasn't even able to just enjoy the baseball without football sneaking its way into his day, as Liverpool fans bombarded the post with comments about Kylian Mbappe.

The £166million forward (Daily Mail) is a popular man in Liverpool circles on social media, and supporters urged Henry to make a deal happen for the Paris Saint-Germain star amid questions about his future, even if a move to Anfield seems hugely unlikely for the French speedster.
