According to Telefoot in France, Tottenham Hotspur are nearing a deal for Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, and have agreed a five-year deal with him already.

Terms still need to be finalised with Lyon, but it looks like Tottenham will imminently land Mauricio Pochettino's target in a club-record deal.

Fans are naturally excited by Ndombele's seemingly imminent arrival, with many believing that he is the ideal successor to Mousa Dembele in Pochettino's midfield.

Dembele left for China in January, and with that comparison in mind, we compared the two players on FIFA 19 – and it's easy to see why the Frenchman as been picked out as a replacement.

Their attributes are very similar in many key areas. For example, Ndombele's 84 Short Passing comes just behind Dembele's 85. Neither are great shooters, but Ndombele has 88 Dribbling; Dembele has 89.

Dembele is also just a point ahead at 80 for Long Passing, whilst Ndombele's 85 Ball Control is also similar to Dembele's 88. Ndombele does though possess more pace and agility than Dembele right now, which isn't a major shock given the age gap between the two.

Ndombele doesn't quite hit Dembele's 89 Strength, but posts a more than respectable 78, whilst their aggression, vision and composure is also eerily similar.

Of course, FIFA 19's attributes only tell a part of the story, but Ndombele has all the key attributes that made Dembele so important to Pochettino - and that's exactly why he's the perfect signing to bolster the Tottenham midfield.
