It was reported this week that Mujica is ‘very close’ to joining Leeds United.

Some Leeds United supporters are already welcoming one Whites target to Elland Road, after he confirmed he is leaving his current employers.

According to Zona Amarilla in Spain, Leeds are ‘very close’ to signing the Spanish forward, Rafa Mujica, at the end of his contract with Barcelona B.

Las Palmas, the club based in Mujica’s native Gran Canaria, have also been credited with interest in the 20-year-old.

But after Mujica bid farewell to Barca on Twitter earlier – a post was liked by Leeds’ former Blaugrana defender, Oriol Rey – the following Whites fans are starting to count their chickens.

Mujica has already caused a stir among those Leeds persuasion this summer, after several identified – incorrectly as it transpired – him as one of the mystery men accompanying the Whites’ director of football, Victor Orta, into Elland Road.

But the former Spain Under-19 international brought a halt to the speculation just hours later – adding to his Instagram story from Gran Canaria.

Mujica is in line to become Leeds’ first summer signing, although he would be expected to link up initially with Carlos Corberan’s Under-23 side.

Where is Mujica heading?
