Manchester City want to add Gremio’s Copa America superstar Everton Soares to Pep Guardiola’s Premier League winning squad.

Manchester City are in pole position to sign Brazil’s Copa America star Everton Soares after making a £40 million bid for the jet-heeled winger, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

The 23-year-old Gremio star has been linked with some of Europe’s biggest clubs for a few months now but interest is set to skyrocket once the Copa America comes to an end.

Everton has been by far and away Brazil’s most exciting performer, scoring two stunning long-range goals as Tite’s hosts limped through the group stage, failing to convince before the 5-0 thrashing of Peru.

And Tuttomercatoweb reports that Manchester City have stepped up their attempts to lure Everton to England by making a bid worth £40 million.

The Premier League champions are at the front of the queue, too. AC Milan were keen but, since sporting director Leonardo returned to PSG, it seems the Rossoneri are no longer in the race.

Man City’s interest is only likely to raise speculation once again about the future of Leroy Sane with Bayern Munich continuing to flirt shamelessly and publicly with the German international.

Everton, like Sane, is a rapid, direct left-winger after all.
