Aston Villa forward Jonathan Kodjia scored his nation’s only goal of the game against South Africa.

Aston Villa forward Jonathan Kodjia has been praised for his performance for the Ivory Coast against South Africa.

Villa striker Kodjia scored the only goal of the game as his nation got off to a winning start in the African Cup of Nations.

The Villa man took his goal well in the second half, as the Ivorians picked up an important three points.

And most watching fans praised how Kodjia played, which should please Villa fans.

It is not clear just how important a role Kodjia will have for Villa next season.

The 29-year-old was only a rotational player for Villa last season, but he does possess a goalscoring threat.

With Villa bringing in Wesley for big money, it seems that Kodjia could be on the bench a lot for Dean Smith’s side.

However, if Kodjia can have an impressive African Cup of Nations then it may just give the Villa boss some selection problems heading into the new campaign.
