Arsenal could not afford a deal for Paris Saint-Germain's 21-year-old midfielder Christoper Nkunku in January but they could get him for a bargain now.
The 21-year-old midfielder has just 12 months left in his current deal at the French capital and PSG would be happy to make some money off of him rather than allow him to leave for nothing next summer.
Arsenal were heavily linked with a move to sign the young French sensation back in the January transfer window but financial constraints prevented them from completing a deal on deadline day. The Metro reported on deadline day that the Gunners were not able to afford the €20 million (£17.4m) fee demanded by PSG but Unai Emery could finally reunite with his former player for a cut-price deal this summer.
Arsenal are in need of a new central midfielder after losing Aaron Ramsey to Juventus for free. The Welshman's unavailability has already proved to be a massive blow for the Gunners as they were humiliated by Chelsea in his absence in the final of the Europa League last month.
Unai Emery should and must bring in a midfielder who will produce the kind of performances that he demands, something that Mesut Ozil has clearly failed to do. Nkunku would be a brilliant signing for the North Londoners and at just £13.5 million, it could prove to be one of the biggest bargains of the summer.
Nkunku played 29 games for the Parisians in all competitions last season and was surprisingly one of the most impressive players in the time. His clever runs from the centre of the park combined with his ability to get away from his marker with considerable ease have been a joy to watch and Arsenal could have a real gem on their hands if they manage to sign him in the coming weeks.
