Pixar’s Toy Story 4 gave us a whole raft of new characters to enjoy but could one addition to the cast be set for a spin-off?

Toy Story 4 hit cinemas around the world this weekend and has succeeded in stealing our hearts all over again.

The new film introduces us to plenty of new characters but most important of all is Forky whose desire to desert Bonnie and become trash kick-starts the events of the film.

Just under two heart-warming, hilarious and delightful hours later, Forky has been saved and, after starting First Grade, Bonnie creates a new toy, the slightly more sinisterly named Knifey.

Who is Knifey?

We only meet Knifey at the very end of Toy Story 4 but she certainly makes a big impression on Forky.

At the start of Toy Story 4, Bonnie is just starting her first day of Kindergarten and makes Forky in order to help her get through the day.

Just like Forky, Knifey is the creation of Bonnie on her first day of elementary school. She is made from a plastic knife (rather than a spork), lollipop sticks, googly eyes and pipe cleaner arms.

It’s almost as if Knifey and Forky are just meant to be.

Are we set for a Forky and Knifey spin-off?

Following the release of Toy Story 3, Pixar created a pair of short films, Toy Story of Terror and Toy Story That Time Forgot and that could well be something the studio will look at doing once again for Toy Story 4.

It’s safe to say that Forky steals the show in Toy Story 4 thanks to being a brilliantly naive character who offers up a lot of laughs throughout.

Therefore, rather than going the whole hog and having a Toy Story 5 based on Forky, a Valentine’s Day themed rom-com featuring Forky and Knifey could be the perfect continuation of the Toy Story short film series.

And it looks as if, a Forky spin-off is indeed heading to Disney+ when the streaming service eventually launches later this year.

Toy Story hit cinemas on June 21st, 2019 and looks set to perform well at the box office for the next few weeks.
