Celtic have been bizarrely linked with Emmanuel Adebayor.
Every transfer window brings some bizarre rumours for almost every club, and Celtic's strangest link emerged on Friday.
The Sun reported that Celtic are interested in signing free agent striker Emmanuel Adebayor, who is a free agent after leaving Basaksehir this summer.
The 35-year-old is a big name having played for Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur, but the notion of him turning up at Parkhead seems bizarre to say the very least.
Adebayor hit four goals and two assists for Basaksehir last season, and now finds himself looking for a new club as his career heads towards its end.
The rumour does smack of Adebayor's agent trying to his client's name out in the press and linked to a number of clubs, and Celtic fans are ultimately having none of it.
Bhoys supporters took to Twitter to react to the rumours, suggesting that Adebayor is past his best and shouldn't be anywhere near Parkhead.
A couple of fans would love to see him working with young attackers Odsonne Edouard and Vakoun Issouf Bayo, believing their development would be aided, but the general consensus is that Celtic should completely avoid the veteran Togolese hitman.
Adebayor??? What's people thoughts on that link.. Think he could a job for us and Bayo, Edouard could learn alot from him but think wages would be problem. Can't see it happening tho.— Bigirishmc (@Bigirishcelt) June 22, 2019

This had got Diouf written all over it no chance he’s coming— KrisyAyerCSC (@MickeyMackkk) June 22, 2019
Maybe not so much, but he’d live to play under the big lights on a cold champions league night like most players, just sating— Unseen Hand (@HandUnseen) June 22, 2019
If it’s true that Celtic are trying to sign Adebayor, then not only are we scraping the bottom of the barrel, we have scraped right through it and are now scraping the floor beneath! It also shows the board are not in any way serious about 10 in a row or European success!— Badger (@whiterat58) June 22, 2019
Adebayor to @CelticFC on the surface sounds a strange one, but if you look at @Oedouard22) and Bayo Vakoun Issouf, IMHO they would benefit massively from that experience. Will be interesting to see how it pans out...— Marc (@Urban_Celt) June 22, 2019
The guy's 35, past it, was on a huge wedge in Turkey, has big money offers from China and has had a stinking attitude most of his career whilst causing trouble at most of the club's he's been at.— Cal MacKenzie (@kombuchis_clay) June 22, 2019
So... Welcome To Celtic, Emmanuel Adebayor! https://t.co/o6nRAv5g8o

If Celtic are remotely interested in shelling out a fortune in wages to sign an old, clapped out Emmanuel Adebayor, game’s a bogey. If there are Celtic fans who think that’s anything other than a shocking shout, hand your season tickets in ASAP pic.twitter.com/GAAW7sld6J— Marc McArdle (@marcmcardle1) June 22, 2019
