Report: Pedro Chirivella could still leave Liverpool

Pedro Chirivella was the victim of a botched transfer away from Liverpool in January.

Liverpool midfielder Pedro Chirivella was the victim of a bizarre transfer gaffe in January.

Segunda Division side Extremadura signed the 22-year-old on loan on deadline day of the winter transfer window, but the Liverpool prospect returned to Merseyside two weeks later after it was discovered that the Spanish side hadn't registered the transfer in time before the cut-off point.

But it looks Chirivella may finally get that move after all.

According to El Periódico Extremadura, the Reds youngster still wants a move to Almendralejo and the second-tier side are negotiating with their Premier League counterparts at the minute.

For the sake of his career, he needs to leave Liverpool.

At 22, it looks ever so unlikely that he's going to break into Jurgen Klopp's senior team. If it was going to happen, a loan to Extremadura wouldn't be on the cards, if we're honest.

Chirivella joined the Anfield club in 2013 during Brendan Rodgers's reign and managed only one Premier League appearance - a 3-1 defeat by Swansea City in May 2016, when Klopp fielded a weakened side in preparation for a Europa League final.
