Liverpool and Everton have both been credited with an interest in signing the Ajax star.
Liverpool have to strengthen this summer, if they are to have a real chance of winning the Premier League next season, and beating bitter rivals Everton to David Neres could be key to their success.
And Liverpool or Everton could face paying £90 million for Neres, according to Marcel van der Kraan on the Sky Sports transfer talk podcast.
Neres, 22, was in sensational form for Ajax last season, racking up 12 goals and 15 assists in 50 games in all competitions, and Jurgen Klopp must do everything within his power to bring him to Anfield.
Liverpool already have a wonderfully exciting and dangerous front three, but should one of those players get injured, Klopp has little in reserve.
And Neres would provide the ideal competition for Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.
The young Brazilian is a left winger by trade, but he can play anywhere along the frontline. He possesses blistering pace, and plays with a certain kind of directness that would make him ideally suited to Klopp’s high-octane setup at Anfield.
Liverpool must flex their muscles in the transfer market, and beat Everton to Neres. It could turn out to be the signing that takes them to that elusive next level.
