The difference in the league between Tottenham and Arsenal last season was only one point, but the riches between fourth and fifth make that gap look like a chasm.

Ndombele is the type of powerful and dominant midfielder Arsenal lack, and badly need.

He is a player Arsene Wenger wanted at the Gunners in 2018, Footmercato reported, but Lyon clinched a permanent deal for the star and were never going to sell in 2018.

Football London report the Gunners have only £40 million to spend.

This is worrying in itself for Arsenal. To then see Tottenham land Ndombele and pull further away would be a scary prospect.
