West Ham United are competing with Valencia for the signature of Maxi Gomez.

According to a report in the London Evening Standard, West Ham United are set to step up their interest in Maxi Gomez of Celta Vigo again.

West Ham have been chasing Gomez for the whole of the summer so far, and saw a bid of £25 million rejected by Celta.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side are refusing to give up on the deal though, and look set to make another bid.

Celta Vigo don’t want to sell, but realise that the money on offer for the target-man is now vast.

The La Liga side are now hoping that West Ham get embroiled in a bidding war, with Valencia also interested.

If Gomez was brought to West Ham he would surely complete their attacking additions this summer.

The Hammers want a striker to add to their squad, after already securing Pablo Fornals’ signature this summer.

Gomez appears to be West Ham’s top target, as Mario Husillos has personally kept tabs on him for six months now.

If Gomez was to arrive at West Ham, then Manuel Pellegrini’s squad may just have the attacking quality to really trouble the top six next season.
