Bristol City manager Lee Johnson has jokingly stated that he has rented out a two bedroom flat 'overlooking' Leeds United's training ground so he can 'suss them out early' ahead of the new season.

The Robins will host last season's play-off semi-finalist on home soil for their opening Championship game of the new season in August.

As mentioned above, Leeds were beaten in the play-off semi-finals last time out and they will want to go one better this time around.

Speaking to Sky Sports News (20/06/2019 at 10:25 am), Johnson admitted that he is looking forward to playing Leeds United' on the first day of the new campaign.

"I thought it was fantastic [to draw Leeds]," Johnson told Sky Sports News. "The first game of the season has always got that cup final feel. Leeds the way they finished last year, they will be disappointed that they didn't get promoted. A good side and a good manager.

"We have just taken out a rent of a two bedroom flat overlooking Leeds' training ground just to make sure we suss them out early."

Johnson's little jibe was reference to the Spygate drama last season which involved Frank Lampard and his Derby County side.

A mini-rivalry grew between the two clubs as they clashed in the play-off semi-finals, with the Rams coming out on top, but they were beaten by Aston Villa in the final.

There's no doubt that their rivalry will be renewed again this term as Leeds will be one of the favourites to earn promotion to the Premier League.
