There is another centre-back on Aston Villa’s radar it seems with The Sun claiming that the newly promoted Premier League outfit are set to make a move for Bristol City stalwart Adam Webster.
Villa have been very busy in the transfer market since they beat Derby County in the play-off final in May, signing Wesley Moraes and Jota while making loan deals permanent for both Anwar El-Ghazi and Kortney Hause.
And it seems that a new central defender is the next priority amid doubts about whether Tyrone Mings and Axel Tuanzebe will be allowed to return from Bournemouth and Manchester United respectively.
The Sun claims that Aston Villa are set to make a £12 million bid for the ball-playing Webster. And the chance to play top flight football is apparently ‘bound to appeal’ to a player who joined Bristol City just 12 months ago from Ipswich Town.
The 23-year-old started 43 Championship games as The Robins narrowly missed out on the play-offs last season and his composure in possession should suit a Dean Smith side who like to build play from the back and dominate the ball.
