Southampton fans will be expecting much more from their team next season.
When speaking exclusively to German publication Sport Bild, Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl suggested that he is aiming to guide his side to a top 10 finish in the Premier League table next season.
The Austrian took over as Saints boss in December last year, and managed to guide the south coast club to safety.
They eventually finished in 16th spot in the table, five points clear of the drop zone, but much more will be expected of Southampton next term.
Much will depend on how much money Hasenhuttl actually has to spend, because it is clearly evident that he needs to improve his Saints squad din pretty much every single department.
The former RB Leipzig chief sat down for an exclusive interview with German media outlet Sport Bild, and suggested that a top 10 finish should be well within Southampton's reach next season:
“I think we have managed to make people positive for the club again. Next season, we want to climb as far as we can. We can land at 10th place.”
Hasenhuttl has undoubtedly improved Southampton since he took over six months ago, but next season will likely be one of the hardest challenges that he has ever faced in football management, considering the financial muscle of some of the clubs he is directly competing against.
The Saints are a club with plenty of potential, however, and as long as they continue to play football and operate in the correct manner, they will have every chance of breaking into the top 10.
