Everton and Leicester City are just some of the clubs reportedly showing interest in Luton Town defender James Justin.

Everton have joined the race with Leicester City for Luton Town's highly-rated defender James Justin, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The 21-year-old Englishman recently won promotion from League One to the Championship with Luton, who played an attacking brand of football, as the versatile defender has caught the eye of Premier League teams.

For some while now, it seemed as though Leicester and their manager Brendan Rodgers would secure the services of Justin, but that is yet to be the case.

During his management career, Rodgers has been known to build up young talent and spot them from other clubs or from the academy - and he has seemingly caught the eye of another special talent.

But if Everton do pip Rodgers to the signing of Justin at the last minute then some of the Goodison Park faithful will take some enjoyment out of it given Rodgers' previous links with their bitter rivals.

Added with that, both Everton and Leicester will be fighting for Europe next season and their summer transfer business will play a huge part in who finishes on top.

The Toffees secured a top-eight finish last time out, whilst Rodgers, who moved to the King Power Stadium in February, guided his team to a top-ten finish.

Given the players both teams have at their disposal, both from experience to the younger players, the managers they have in charge and the attacking football they play, both will be a threat to many teams next season.

But Everton beating Rodgers to the signing of Justin would provide a slight advantage to the club, and a little satisfaction at the Northern Irishman missing out on a target.
