Aston Villa goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic is said to be interesting Nantes, who Valentin Rongier plays for.

Aston Villa should consider using Lovre Kalinic in a swap deal with Nantes for reported target Valentin Rongier.

Le Foot suggests that Villa want Rongier, and they could offer £13 million for his services.

The claret and blues may have a way of getting hold of the midfielder without having to pay such a substantial fee now though.

French outlet 20 Minutes claim that Nantes want Kalinic, which opens up a potential swap deal.

Villa don’t need Kalinic, with Dean Smith looking at other goalkeeping options.

And if they could take advantage of Nantes’ interest in the Croatian to get some money off Rongier then the transfer would make perfect sense for all parties.

Rongier scored four goals and claimed seven assists in Ligue 1 last term, and if he did arrive at Villa, he could make competition fierce for a place in Smith’s side’s midfield.
